What Is Divination?
Divination is not an exact art or science. People who have the gift of divination are often called fortune-tellers. This is a mislabel because it isn’t fortune that the diviner sees but possibilities of a person’s future life, love, finances, etc. The outcome for all of these parts of life is based on a person’s decisions now. In the Filipino language, diviners are called ‘manghuhula,’ which translates to ‘guessers.’ This means fortune tellers are supposedly just guessing. But, surprisingly, their guesses hit the mark often enough.
Astrology
Despite its many forms, the one that appears to be most trusted is astrology. There are different types of astrology but the ones most popularly known are Chinese Astrology (one of the oldest divination techniques created centuries ago) and Western Astrology (created by Babylonian astronomers).
Chinese Astrological signs change on an annual basis, based on the moon’s cycles. Hence, their year starts with the first full moon of the year. The Chinese zodiac is based on 12 animals. Your animal is based on the year of your birth. The twelve animal signs are rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and boar.
The zodiac that many people are more familiar with is the one that changes by the month. So, depending on your birth date, you could fall under the sign of Aquarius, Pisces, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, or Capricorn.
Astronomy
Diviners who use astronomy employ a lot of math and research before making their predictions. The result depends on the position of the stars and the alignments of the planets plus the date and time of your birth for them to feel that they can come up with a more or less accurate prediction.
Tarot Cards
A tarot card reading is usually done with a unique deck of cards. It is said that the first recorded use of tarot cards was in Italy during the 14th century. The original purpose of the Tarot was to play games, with the first known rules appearing in 1420.
The Tarot has since been used for both divination and meditation purposes. A typical tarot deck has 78 cards consisting of four suits (similar to those found in regular playing cards), with each suit containing fourteen pip cards and two court cards. In addition, there are twenty-one trump or Major Arcana cards.

Numerology is any study of the purported divine, mystical, or other special relationship between a number, letters and patterns.
Angel Readings
An angel reading is a form of divination that uses a person’s guardian angel as the source of information. The angel is said to be a being assigned by God to protect and guide the person.
In an angel reading, the reader will often use a psychometry method, which is when they hold an object belonging to the person to gain information about them. The reader may also use tools such as tarot cards, runes, or even just their intuition.
Pendulums
A pendulum is a weight suspended from a pivot so that it can swing freely. Pendulums are often used for divination purposes. The pendulum is said to be able to tap into a person’s subconscious mind to answer questions.
To use a pendulum for divination, the person would first need to choose what type of question they want to ask. The question should be something that we can answer with a yes or no. Once the question has been decided, the person would then hold the pendulum over their palm and wait for it to start swinging. The direction in which the pendulum swings will supposedly answer the question.
Crystal Readings
Crystal readings are done with the help of a crystal ball. The crystal ball is said to be able to tap into a person’s energy field to answer questions about their past, present, and future.
To do a crystal reading, the person would first need to choose what type of question they want to ask. The question should be something that one can answer with a yes or no. Once the question has been decided, the person would then hold the crystal ball in their hands and focus on the question. The answer will supposedly appear in images or symbols within the crystal ball.
