The Meaning Behind Planets And The Zodiac In Astrology

Posted on March 24, 2022February 3, 2023 by Rachel Herrera

A planet represents each sign of the Zodiac. Planets are said to rule over certain aspects of our lives.

For example, Saturn is associated with discipline, responsibility, and hard work. People who are born under the sign of Capricorn ( ruled by Saturn) tend to be ambitious, disciplined, and responsible.

Similarly, Jupiter is associated with growth, expansion, and abundance. Therefore, people born under the sign of Sagittarius ( ruled by Jupiter) are typically optimistic and enthusiastic about life.

The planets each play a vital role in our lives, and understanding their influence can help us better understand our personalities and paths in life.

Here are the Planets and some of what they mean:

The Sun In Astrology

The Sun is a powerful symbol. Therefore, the House occupied in your chart will be very important. This House will determine what is essential to you throughout your life and the activities you will be most creative and successful in. The characteristics of the sign associated with the Sun are usually intensified. The positive aspect of the Sun is creativity, affection, and generosity. The negative trait of the Sun is arrogance.

The Moon In Astrology

The Planet Mercury In Astrology

The Moon reflects instinct and cyclical changes. It is the second most important planet, after the Sun. The Moon sign usually reflects the personality of the subject. This includes habits, emotions, motherhood, family life, and social response. The positive aspects of being influenced by the Moon have imaginativeness, business shrewdness, maternal instinct, and patience. Negative traits associated with the Moon include stubbornness, unreliability, and irrational behavior.

Mercury is communication. Mercury is associated with things that have to do with the mind, like computers, intellect, science, and mental perception. The sound characteristics of Mercury are that people with Mercury in their charts have a good memory, they are logical and communicative, and they are clever. The destructive features of Mercury are that these people can be mentally constipated (not able to think straight), argumentative (they like to argue), nervous (they can get stressed out quickly), and sarcastic (mean).

The Planet Venus In Astrology

The keywords for Venus are love and harmony. Venus is associated with emotions, love, beauty, the arts, and fashion. The positive qualities of Venus include friendly, well-mannered individuals who are artistic and likable. Selfishness is a negative characteristic of this planet. Unrealistically romantic people are also referred to as “Venusians.”

The Planet Mars In Astrology

The planet Mars is associated with fire and energy. People in ancient times thought that it brought wars. They also thought it was the most powerful planet. People think of aggression, quickness in action, war, and weapons when thinking of Mars. The negative traits of Mars are that it can be boisterous, war-like, and quarrelsome.

The Planet Jupiter In Astrology

Expansion is the keyword of Jupiter, which has long been associated with luck. The incredible planet is sometimes known as Jupiter. Jupiter’s House is typically linked to outstanding results in that area of life. The planetary’s growing quality might be connected to its physical size…the solar system’s most giant planet. Good qualities include compassion, optimism, and athleticism. Negative characteristics include extravagance, irresponsibility, indulgence, excessive optimism, and carefree living.

The Planet Saturn In Astrology

One of the main attributes of Saturn is that it represents limitations and hardship. Whenever someone is going through something, they will encounter these characteristics. This is because Saturn always represents slow-moving, difficulty, and tension. Because Saturn can be rigid on people, it is often associated with perseverance and grit. But it can also have negative associations with health. The positive traits associated with Saturn are trustworthiness, tenacity, and discipline. The negative characteristics are self-pitying, depression, and difficulty.

The Planet Uranus In Astrology

The Planet Neptune In Astrology

Sudden changes best represent Uranus. Uranus is associated with modern science, medicine, sex, and telecommunication radio systems. The positive traits are inventive and original. The negative characteristics are sexual overdrive, abnormal, and impulsive.

The keyword for Neptune is unknown. However, Neptune may reflect the hidden potential capability of a person. The positive traits are subtle, artistic, and sensitive. The negative characteristics are indecisive, careless, and unworldly.

The Planet Pluto In Astrology

Astrologers are still trying to figure out what Pluto means. Some people think it has to do with a new beginning or the end of a cycle. Pluto is often associated with business and hidden power. People with positive traits related to Pluto are good at making money and starting over when things go wrong. But people with negative traits might have underworld connections or be seen as shady.

Summary

The planets in astrology all have different keywords and attributes. And now that you have a good understanding of the influence of each one, you are ready to read your chart and interpret your zodiac positions with your newly gained knowledge.
