How to Make Your Own Aromatherapy Bath Salts

Posted on April 27, 2022February 1, 2023 by Rachel Herrera

Making your own bath salts is a wonderful method to use aromatherapy at home. You can use any combination of essential oils that you like to create a unique fragrance for your bath salts. In addition, you can also add other ingredients such as dried herbs or flowers (even healing crystals if they are water-friendly) to give your bath salts an extra boost of aromatherapy power.

To make your own aromatherapy bath salts, you will need:

– 1 cup of Epsom salt

– 1/2 cup of sea salt

– 1/4 cup of baking soda

– 10-15 drops of essential oil(s)

Pro Tip: When adding the oils, start with 2 drops and gradually increase until you reach the desired fragrance. If the salts are damp, the essential oils will mix in better; dampen them by spritzing them with a water bottle to enhance this effect.

Mix together the Epsom salt, sea salt, and baking soda in a bowl. Add in the essential oil(s) and stir until well combined. Store in an airtight container until ready to use.

Recommend Crystals to use in your bathwater:

– Rose quartz for self-love

– Amethyst for relaxation

– Clear quartz for purification

– Citrine for happiness

– Tigers eye for courage

Crystal Care Instructions:

– Do not leave your crystals in the bathwater for too long as they may start to dissolve.

– Rinse your crystals off with clean water after use and allow them to air dry.

– If you are using fragile or porous crystals, place them outside of the tub on a towel or cloth so they do not come into direct contact with the water.

Using aromatherapy bath salts is simple: just add 1/2 to 1 cup of the mixture to your bathtub filled with warm water. Soak in the tub for 20-30 minutes to enjoy the aromatherapy benefits. Afterwards, rinse off in the shower and relax for the rest of the evening. You can also gift your homemade aromatherapy bath salts

How to use aromatherapy bath salts:

Add 1/2 to 1 cup of aromatherapy bath salts to a warm bath and enjoy! The Epsom salt will help to soothe muscles while the essential oils work their aromatherapy magic. You can also add a few drops of lavender oil to your pillow before bedtime for an extra relaxing experience.

Why Should I Make My Own Bath Salts?

Bath salts are inexpensive to produce and don’t require the use of harsh chemicals. They also make a great gift for friends and family. Enjoy!

Basic ingredients like baking soda, table salt, and Epsom salt are the key components in bath salts making it a cheap and easy DIY to do for your personal hygiene products. These ingredients may be found in a local grocery or retail store, and they are considered safe to use.

Certain bath products on the market can have harsh chemicals that might irritate the skin. When using aromatherapy bath salts that you made yourself, you can be assured that there are no harmful chemicals in them.

The steps to make your own aromatherapy bath salts are simple.

All you need is a bowl and some measuring cups or spoons to get the desired amounts of ingredients. After mixing everything together, store the mixture in an airtight container until ready for use.

Using aromatherapy bath salts is just like using any other type of bath salt; simply add it to your bath water and enjoy. For best results, soak in the tub for at least 20 minutes to allow the aromatherapy scents to work their magic.

Making your own bath salts has several benefits: you know which components go into it, and you can have confidence in its safety. In addition, you can customize the aromatherapy scents to your liking. So go ahead and give it a try! Your skin will thank you.

Start with a large mixing bowl and spoon. Then add 3 cups of Epsom salt, 2 cups of baking soda, and 1 cup of table salt into the mixing basin.

Begin mixing the components together with your hand or a spoon as soon as each one has been added.

After thorough mixing, carefully add food coloring to the mix.

Adding normal food coloring to bath salts will work.

Increasing the number of drops may darken the color while decreasing them might make it softer.

Some people like experimenting with colors to create a unique hue while mixing them in a separate container prior to adding them into the mixing bowl.

To complete, add the essential oils until you achieve the desired fragrance.

Use your own preference when creating a fragrance.

If you like to have a strong scent after bathing, you’ll need to add more fragrance.

Bath salts in general should be strongly scented in order to save money on each bath. In turn  your baths will require fewer quantities of salts, which then extends the shelf life of your product.

To save time, you can also make your own aromatherapy bath salts by mixing the steps and components as described above in a bowl with a lid, then shaking until completely blended.

Pro Tip: When adding the essential oils, start with 2 drops and increase gradually until you reach the desired fragrance. The essential oils will mix in better if the salts are damp; you can dampen them by spraying them with a water bottle.

After the aromatherapy bath salts have been made, store them in an airtight container like a Mason jar.

To Use Your New Bath Salt Product

Just add 1/2 cup to a warm bathtub and enjoy your aromatherapy experience!

They will stay fresh for approximately 6 months.
